The Transit Future team has prepared a brief document outlining the process, information and future Inter-Regional and Regional Network Map. Highlights of the document are summarized below. You can also review the full document.

Future Inter-Regional and Regional Network Map

Implementation Strategy

The following list shows the order that each service should be implemented, or increased if the service already exists (for example, Abbotsford-Mission). Each service implementation or increase poses unique challenges that must be overcome prior to the start of the service.

  1. Abbotsford - Mission
  2. Abbotsford - Surrey Central via Hwy 1
  3. Abbotsford - Chilliwack
  4. Mission - Maple Ridge
  5. Chilliwack-Agassiz-Harrison
  6. Chilliwack-Agassiz-Hope
  7. Chilliwack-Hope
  8. Abbotsford-Langley via Fraser Hwy

September 10, 2011

Staff from Abbotsford-Mission met with other Fraser Valley communities, Translink and BC Transit on August 31, 2011 to discuss strategies to serve future inter-regional and regional travel. Participants reviewed updated travel information, demographic projections and employment trends to determine future bus routes and service levels. Results of this workshop will be posted soon!

June 20, 2011 – Phase One Results

We have reviewed all the input you provided on the Transit Future Bus, online, in person and through the online survey. The feedback has been summarized in a short report.

The Transit Future team is now providing updates to local Councils and will then review and confirm the 25-year transit network vision. Once this is agreed upon by all project partners, it will be posted here. Stay tuned!

May 25, 2011 – Results

Thank you to those who came out to see us on the Transit Future Bus. Nearly 300 people visited the bus, and nearly 200 played the Game Plan (the online survey). We received about 250 comments on the interactive displays. While we will consider every comment, here are the ones we heard most:

  • Fast, direct regional service connecting Abbotsford and Mission to the Greater Vancouver area
  • Increase frequency
  • New service connecting Abbotsford and Chilliwack
  • Increase service span (e.g., early or later during the day, weekends, holidays)
  • Create a strong link between land use and transit

A detailed analysis of all your feedback will shape the development of the Abbotsford-Mission Transit Future Plan. If you missed us in person and would like to provide your input, please email us at CFV2035@bctransit.com .

December 16, 2010 - Fraser Valley Transit Study Released

The Province, in cooperation with the Fraser Valley Regional District, BC Transit and Translink, initiated a study of transit in the Fraser Valley to study current and future transit service. With input from local governments and the public, the study presents a strategy to improve service and encourage more people to choose transit over driving.

This document establishes the long range vision for the region and for local service in Mission, Abbotsford and Chilliwack. The Transit Future Plan will determine how local and regional service will transform over the next several years to achieve the vision.
