Plans for Saanich Peninsula

The Saanich Peninsula service plan implements the long term priorities for transit service identified in the 2005 Peninsula service review conducted by BC Transit. The plan meets the service objectives of increased frequency, reduced travel times and improved connectivity by establishing new routes and services to expand transit and increase ridership on the Peninsula.

Highlights of the 2008 service expansion on the Saanich Peninsula include the following:

  • Expanding service between Sidney and downtown to include four distinct conventional bus routes (70, 71, 72, & 73) with several express trips for commuters and an increase in frequency to service every 7.5 minutes during morning and afternoon rush hours.
  • Service will also be increased on the 75 Saanichton between downtown Victoria and Brentwood, including a new Keating only bus route (76 Keating).
  • Service on Community bus routes 77, 81, 82 and 83 will increase.
  • New community bus service (79 Dean Park) will be introduced to Dean Park connecting Saanichton, Sidney, the airport, and McTavish Park 'n Ride to the Dean Park subdivision.
  • The route 83 will be expanded along West Saanich Rd. south of Brentwood to Royal Oak and Camosun College Interurban campus.

We Want to Hear from You

Before the Victoria Regional Transit Commission makes decisions on the Fall 2008 service levels, it receives a list of recommendations from the Victoria Planning staff at BC Transit.
