Fare Zones
The entire Victoria Regional Transit System, from Sooke to
Sidney, is one fare zone and requires a single fare.
Transfers
Transfers are proof of payment that tells the transit operator
you have paid your fare. When you pay your fare, ask your
transit operator for a transfer if you need to use more than
one bus to complete your trip and are using cash or tickets
as fare payment.
- Transfers are issued only at time you pay your fare. This
is your proof of payment, so keep it for your entire trip.
- Show your transfer clearly to the driver every time you
get on board.
- Your transfer allows one-directional travel on
any route for up to 60 minutes from the time of issue.
- Your transfer is not valid for a return trip.
- Your transfer will expire at the time torn on the front
of the transfer.
- Transfers are not transferable to anyone other than the
person who purchased the transfer.
Youth Fares
A discount fare is offered to anyone 18 years and younger.
Youth do not need to be enrolled in high school to ride for
the discount fare.
If you appear 19 years or older, the transit operator will
ask you for proof of age. ID includes: driver's license, passport,
birth certificate, BC ID, CareCard or equivalent ID validated
by any national, provincial or state government agency.
YouthPASS
BC Transit's YouthPASS offers unlimited travel throughout
the transit region for riders aged 6 to 18 years. Click
here for details.

Post-Secondary Institution Passes
BC Transit in partnership with local institutions offers
reduced price monthly passes through on-campus sales. Post-secondary
institutions may apply to BC Transit to sell regular adult
monthly bus passes to qualifying students for a discount.
To qualify for the pass, students must be in attendance full
time for a minimum of three months at a post-secondary educational
institution in the Greater Victoria region. Full time attendance
is defined as 20 hours per week in attendance at the institution
for a minimum of three months. Institutions must sign an agreement
with BC Transit and act as pass vendors to qualifying students.
