Low Floor Bus

The Victoria Regional Transit system offers a range of travel options for seniors and persons with disabilities including a low-floor bus.

If you are waiting for a low-floor bus and the bus that arrives is not accessible or if the wheelchair positions are full, the driver will advise you of the next low-floor bus.  If there is no further low-floor bus service, the driver will help you by making alternative travel arrangements.

You will not be left in an isolated or unsafe location.

Boarding the Bus

You may board only at designated stops, via the front door of the bus.  Please hold onto the rails at all times and remain seated when the bus is in motion.

Getting off the Bus

To request a stop, pull the bell cord in time for your driver to be able to stop safely.

If you are using a mobility aid, exit by the front door only. After leaving the bus, wait until the bus pulls away and you have a clear view of any on-coming traffic before you cross the street.

Passenger Responsibility

When your bus is approaching your stop, make sure you are in clear view of the driver and use the "transit wave" to alert the driver that you are waiting for that bus.

When darkness approaches, it becomes difficult for drivers to see people at bus stops, especially along unlit roads. Please take safety precautions by wearing light-coloured clothing, and by carrying a reflective strip and a flashlight.

Wheelchair & Scooters

We can only carry mobility aids that fit the loading ramp and can be safely secured. Many four-wheeled scooters cannot be carried on low-floor buses.

If you are using a wheelchair or scooter, please read our Scooter Guide H7 [PDF 330KB] for the dimensions approved for use on transit vehicles.
