When handyDART cannot accommodate your travel need, you can use the Taxi Saver Program for one-time trips. The Taxi Saver Program provides a 50% subsidy towards the cost of taxi rides.You will need to have a handyPASS to use this program.

How do I get a handyPASS?
handyPASS is a picture identification card for those who are permanently registered with handyDART. Show your handyPASS when using Taxi Savers or when traveling on the conventional bus to allow your attendant to ride free.
If you need a handyPASS, complete the handyPASS portion when you complete your handyDART application. Be sure to include two passport size photos. Check the Yellow Pages of your telephone directory under passport photos.
Purchasing Taxi Saver Coupons
Taxi Saver rides are paid for using Taxi Saver Coupons. BC Transit sells sheets of coupons containing $1, $2 and $5 taxi saver coupons. You pay $40 for each sheet and may buy a sheet every month. Coupons do not have an expiry date.

Send your order with your handyPASS number, a return address and a cheque
in the amount of $40 (for one sheet) made payable to 'Taxi Savers'.

*Bluebird Cabs and Empress Taxi have
wheelchair and scooter accessible vehicles. When you call to book your
taxi, tell the dispatcher if you need an accessible vehicle.
How to Use the Coupons
- When you reach your destination, present your handyPASS to the driver
- Use your Taxi Saver Coupons to pay the dollar amount of the taxi meter fare
- Use cash to pay anything that is not a whole dollar amount (for example, if the taxi fare is $5.80, you would pay $5.00 using Coupons and 80¢ in change)
Rules
- Taxi drivers cannot make change for Taxi Saver Coupons.
- You may not use coupons as tips
- Taxi Saver coupons are not transferable to other individuals or transit systems

If you have a compliment or complaint about the service you received when using Taxi Saver Coupons, please contact the manager of the taxi company that served you. Please have the name of the taxi company, the day and time of the trip, and the trip destination.
