Safety on the Bus
Please remain seated when the bus is in motion. Do not put
your arms or elbows out of the window. Do not bring combustible
materials such as wet-cell batteries and gasoline containers
onto the bus.
Seatbelts and wheelchair restraints are provided on the vehicle;
these should be used at all times during the trips. The driver
will help you fasten the seatbelt and wheelchair restraints.
Getting off the Bus
After leaving the bus, wait until the bus pulls away and you
have a clear view of any oncoming traffic before you cross the
street. To get off the bus in rural areas with no designated
bus stops, ask the driver to find a safe place to stop.
Appropriate Attire
- For safety reasons, drivers will refuse service to passengers not wearing shirts and footwear.
- The bus is a great way to get to and from the beach, lake or pool, but please make sure your clothes are dry when boarding.
Passenger Responsibility
Please be ready to travel a few minutes before your scheduled
pick-up time. Have your fare ready when you get on the bus.
If you are using a wheelchair, be sure it is equipped with
a lap belt.
If you are using a Walkman or other portable music player,
please keep the volume down.
Be Patient
If the bus is a few minutes late, please be patient. This is
a shared-ride transit service, which makes it difficult to be
precisely on time for each pick-up. But if the bus is more than
15 minutes late, please call the transit office to find out
what's going on.
If you lose something on the bus, call Lost and Found at 490-6145.
If you find something on the bus, give it to the driver, who
will deliver it to Lost and Found.
The Summerland Transit System staff will keep articles in Lost
and Found for up to 14 days, then send the articles to a charitable
organisation.
Lost and Found is located at the transit office at 5913 Peach
Orchard Road in Summerland.
