Fares
You may pay with cash (exact coin fare only, drivers cannot
make change), ticket or one of the types of pass available in
your community, including BC Bus Pass and CNIB Pass, where available.
Transfers
If you need to use more than one bus to complete your trip
and are using cash or tickets as fare payment, you will need
a transfer to board the connecting bus. Be sure to request the
correct transfer when you board the bus.
If you need to take more than two buses to complete your trip,
you may use the same transfer. Please show your transfer clearly
to the driver, face-up with time and route punch showing.
Transfer Policies
- A transfer is issued only at the time a fare is paid and
is for use by that passenger only.
- Expiry time is final, and transfers are valid for trips
in any direction.
- A transfer will not be accepted unless presented on date
of issue and before expiry of time indicated by the cutoff.
- Transfers are completed where possible. Route delays may
prevent some connections from being made. Passengers should
allow sufficient travel time to accommodate route delays.
- Transfers are not valid between the Penticton and Naramata
bus.
Boarding the Bus
Board via the front door of the bus, and have your fare or
pass ready. Display your entire Monthly or DayPass to the driver.
On the Bus
- Please remain seated or hold onto one of the stanchions
when the bus is in motion.
- Do not put your arms or elbows out of the window.
- Do not bring combustible materials such as wet-cell batteries
and gasoline containers on the bus.
- To request a stop, pull the bell cord in time for the driver
to stop safely.
Getting off the Bus
- Exit by the rear door when possible.
- After leaving the bus, wait until the bus pulls away and
you have a clear view of any on-coming traffic before crossing
the street.
Bus Stops in Rural Areas
All bus stops in the downtown Penticton area (as far as Haven
Hill) and in the Naramata townsite are posted. Along Upper Bench
and Naramata Roads only a few stops are marked. In those areas
where there are no designated bus stops, the bus will use flag
stops.
When you want to catch a bus, find a safe location along the
route and wave the bus down. A safe location is one where visibility
is good and where the bus can easily pull of the road, such
as a driveway or postal box area.
Make sure you are visible, especially at night. Carry a flashlight
or stand in a well-lit area. To get off the bus, ask the driver
to find a safe place to stop.
