handyDART is a transportation service for persons who have a disability that is sufficiently severe that the person is unable to use conventional transit service without assistance.

handyDART service is provided to and from accessible building entrances.

You must be registered with the handyDART office before you can use the service.

This service is operated by Diversified Transitportation Ltd.

handyDART Registration

There is no fee to register with handyDART. Please call the Fort St. John Association for Community Living at 250-787-9262 on Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (press "zero" for live person). Closed for 1-hour lunch break from noon to 1:00 p.m.

When you call, registration staff will ask your name, mailing address and telephone number, then send you an application form. Please complete the application and return it to the Fort St. John Association for Community Living, 10251-100th Avenue, Fort St. John, BC V1J 1Y8.

Booking a handyDART Trip

To book a trip with handyDART, call 250-787-7433 during work hours, or leave a message anytime.

When you call, please have the following information ready:

• your name
• the date and time you wish to travel
• the exact address where you wish to be picked up and dropped off
• whether you will be accompanied by an attendant or an escort
• if you use a wheelchair or another type of mobility aid
• if you wish to book a return trip

There are two types of service:

• Regular subscription trips once a week or more often
• One-time trips for purposes such as shopping, social visits or recreational activities

Cancelling a Trip

If you no longer need your handyDART reservation, please call us at 250-787-7433 as soon as possible so that we can schedule a trip for someone else.

Service to Taylor and Charlie Lake

Service between Taylor and Fort St John is available Monday to Friday. The bus leaves Fort St. John at 8:15 a.m. to pick-up in Taylor. The return trip to Taylor leaves Fort St. John at 3:00 p.m.

All residents are eligible to use the Taylor and Charlie Lake service. The fare is $4.00 per passenger. All trips must be booked in advance by calling 250-787-7433.

Funding is shared between the City of Fort St John, Peace River Regional District, District of Taylor and BC Transit.
